Dubai: Motorists in Dubai should prepare for temporary road closures this Sunday, February 23, as the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge takes place. The 92 km race will run from 6:00 am to 10:30 am, affecting several key routes to ensure participant safety.
The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has advised drivers to plan ahead and use alternative routes to avoid delays. Traffic signals and roundabouts along the race route will be suspended, with diversions in place for smoother traffic flow.
The race starts and finishes at Expo City Dubai, passing through major roads like Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, Hessa Street, and First Al Khail Street. Residents in affected areas, including Al Reem, Damac Hills, Mira Oasis, Global Village, Arabian Ranches, Motor City, and Jumeirah Golf Estates, should expect delays.
Road Closures and Timing
- 6:10 am - 8:22 am: Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan and Al Qudra Road / Umm Sequim Traffic Circle closed.
- 6:22 am - 8:22 am: Roads near Global Village, The Villa, and Arabian Ranches closed.
- 6:50 am - 8:40 am: Hessa Street closure affects Studio City and Motor City.
- 7:25 am - 9:50 am: Hessa Street closure affects Sports City, Jumeirah Golf Estates, and Al Barsha.
- 7:00 am - 9:30 am: Al Asayel Street closure impacts Springs, Jumeirah Park, and Emirates Hills.
Authorities urge drivers to leave early and plan trips in advance. The event, supported by the UAE Cycling Federation, Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Police, RTA, and Dubai Municipality, aims to promote an active lifestyle while ensuring safety.
